Totally get it, but thought I'd share some thoughts on this topic, to help you understand what's happening here. xx And with no judgement of course x
What are the big reasons that you don’t do or got to exercise!!!!
Here’s a couple that I know people feel and it stops them from trying
#1 Time is probably big, (until you get committed and scheduled). This is over come by a mindset shift and making space if desire is there.
#2 Feeling unfit, uncomfortable and self conscious, think people are looking and judging you
#3 Feeling like not ready, maybe your recovering from injury or dealing with illness
#4 The memory of exercise, from the past, maybe you had a bad experience, it's put you off somehow, maybe think it has to be like when you were younger
#5 unrealistic expectations, an outdated ideal or story of how you think it has to be like (to work), old belief of what exercise looks like.
#6 Feeling anxious, overwhelm, the thought of doing more just isn’t possible.
#7 Unsure what the "best way" (what feels good is best way), or what to do safely and effectively so you don't waste effort and time on what isn't helpful
Or add your own....................................., we have so many reasons, because it protects us, it keeps us in control, but mostly stops us from trying and growing.
So many ways we hold back on moving or going to a class, so expectations are the key here.
We all have different idea's of what exercise is and we all have different needs.
The aim is enjoyment, being patient, compassionate, just doing anything that suits you, fits your comfort levels and body now. Don't base your ideals on what you think you "should be doing" or "have done", or what someone at a different level tells you to do.
As a trainer of 36 years now, I'm sooooooo empathetic to what people are going through, it's not always easy, but typically good for us to move.
BUT Remember;
You are in control, you can do what feels good and don't when it doesn't.
You can listen to your body, work within the capability, comfort, confidence level you have now.
Go slow, test it out, that's why it's good to do it with help, with an expert.
Be Flexible and open to trying new things
Let go of old stories, help to find ways that feel good, that or opening your mind and perspective -
So you can work it out and trust yourself and love what you’re body can do. X
